چکیده

We present an analysis of the Kondo effect on the Bohm-Aharonov oscillations of the tunneling currents in a mesoscopic ring with a quantum dot inserted in one of its arms. The system is described by an Andersonimpurity tight-binding Hamiltonian where the electron-electron interaction is restricted to the dot. The currents are obtained using nonequilibrium Green functions calculated through a cumulant diagrammatic expansion in the chain approximation. It is shown that at low temperature, even with the system out of resonance, the Kondo peak provides a channel for the electron to tunnel through the dot, giving rise to the Bohm-Aharonov oscillations of the current. At high temperature these oscillations are important only if the dot level is aligned to the Fermi level, when the resonance condition is satisfied. @S0163-1829~97!53012-8#

Comment on "Kondo resonance in a mesoscopic ring coupled to a quantum dot: exact results for the Aharonov-Bohm-Casher effects".

We study the persistent currents induced by both the Aharonov-Bohm and Aharonov-Casher effects in a one-dimensional mesoscopic ring coupled to a sidebranch quantum dot at Kondo resonance. For privileged values of the Aharonov-Bohm-Casher fluxes, the problem can be mapped onto an integrable model, exactly solvable by a Bethe ansatz. In the case of a pure magnetic Aharonov-Bohm flux, we find that...

Current Magnification and Circulating Currents in Mesoscopic Rings

We show that several novel effects related to persistent currents can arise in open systems, which have no analogue in closed or isolated systems. We have considered a system of a metallic ring coupled to two electron reservoirs. We show that in the presence of a transport current, persistent currents can flow in a ring even in the absence of magnetic field. This is related to the current magni...

Novel interference effects and a new Quantum phase in mesoscopic systems

Mesoscopic systems have provided an opportunity to study quantum effects beyond the atomic realm. In these systems quantum coherence prevails over the entire sample. We discuss several novel effects related to persistent currents in open systems which do not have analogues in closed systems. Some phenomena arising simultaneously due to two non-classical effects namely, AharonovBohm effect and q...

Comment on "Mesoscopic Kondo effect in an Aharonov-Bohm ring".

An interacting quantum dot inserted in a mesoscopic ring is investigated. A variational ansatz is employed to describe the ground state of the system in the presence of the Aharonov-Bohm flux. It is shown that, for an even number of electrons with the energy level spacing smaller than the Kondo temperature, the persistent current has a value similar to that of a perfect ring with the same radiu...

Aharonov-Bohm oscillations in a mesoscopic ring with a quantum dot.

We present an analysis of the Aharonov-Bohm oscillations for a mesoscopic ring with a quantum dot inserted in one of its arms. It is shown that mi-croreversibility demands that the phase of the Aharonov-Bohm oscillations changes abruptly when a resonant level crosses the Fermi energy. We use the Friedel sum rule to discuss the conservation of the parity of the oscillations at different conducta...
